Now a museum, the former S21 Prison reminds every visitor of the atrocities committed in Cambodia during the terrible years of communist dictatorship. No less than 17,000 people were inmates of Tuol Sleng prison, and only 7 survived and can today tell the stories of the abuse they suffered. The visit of S21 can be a disturbing and poignant experience that some will not be able to bear.
